Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan Called Up for Final ODI Against Zimbabwe

  • by

Pakistan has added Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan to their squad for the decisive third ODI against Zimbabwe, set to take place at the Queens Park Sports Club on Thursday. The young duo replaces injured pacers Ahmed Daniyal and Shahnawaz Dahani, who have been ruled out of the series due to injuries sustained during training.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Daniyal suffered a hamstring injury, while Dahani sustained a left ankle injury. Both players have been sent back to Pakistan for further treatment after initial scans confirmed their injuries.

The 23-year-old seamer Abbas Afridi and 21-year-old all-rounder Jahandad Khan were already part of Pakistanโ€™s T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe, starting December 1. Their inclusion in the ODI squad provides Pakistan with fresh options ahead of the series decider.

In addition, Aamir Jamal has been named as Daniyalโ€™s replacement in the T20I squad, ensuring depth in the pace department.

The ODI series has been tightly contested. Zimbabwe shocked Pakistan in the first match with an 80-run victory via the DLS method. However, Pakistan roared back in the second game, chasing a modest target of 146 without losing a wicket, thanks to an explosive century by opener Saim Ayub.

The third match now serves as the series decider, with both teams aiming to claim bragging rights.
