Babar Azam becomes fastest to 11,000 T20 runs, sets new record

  • by

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has set a new record as the fastest batter to reach 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. The milestone was achieved in just 298 innings, surpassing the previous record held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who reached the same figure in 314 innings.

Babarโ€™s record-breaking moment came during a T20 match against South Africa, where he secured the milestone with his 11th run of the innings. This achievement makes him the first player in T20 history to reach 11,000 runs in fewer than 300 innings.

Already regarded as one of the most consistent performers in the format, Babar holds several other T20 records, including being the fastest to 7,000, 9,000, and 10,000 runs. His latest feat further solidifies his reputation as one of the formatโ€™s most dependable and celebrated batters.

Babar Azam is now the second Pakistani player and the 11th cricketer overall to surpass the 11,000-run mark in T20 cricket. He joins an elite group of players, including Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, Virat Kohli, and Jos Buttler.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, Babar recently crossed 14,000 runs in international cricket, becoming the fifth Pakistani batter to reach this milestone.
