The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to follow a “fusion formula” to resolve hosting and participation concerns, according to reports from Indian media. This arrangement, reportedly settled through mutual promises during discussions among cricket boards, has yet to be formalized in writing.
As per the “fusion formula,” Pakistan will not travel to India for the ICC World Cup, while the Champions Trophy matches will be split between Pakistan and Dubai. Ten matches, including group stage and knockout games, will be held in Pakistan, whereas Dubai will host three matches, including a semi-final and the final.
Under the “fusion formula,” Pakistan will not travel to India for the World Cup. Instead, Pakistan is expected to play its 2026 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka, following discussions among cricketing boards to finalize venue arrangements.
Additionally, reports suggest that under this arrangement, Pakistan will gain hosting rights for a womenโs T20 event during the 2027โ2031 cycle. Indian media claimed this move was made to ensure equitable hosting opportunities for all member boards.
The official schedule for the Champions Trophy is expected to be announced within the next two days. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the ICC will convene tomorrow to finalize further details. A PCB source expressed optimism, stating, “Hopefully, Pakistan will win its case till tomorrow.”
