Charith Asalanka to Captain Sri Lanka in Three-Match ODI Series Against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh, with Charith Asalanka set to lead the side once again. The three-match series will be played on July 2, 5, and 8, with the first two ODIs scheduled at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the final match at Pallekele International Stadium.

In-form batter Pathum Nissanka, fresh off back-to-back centuries in the ongoing Test series, will look to carry his stellar form into the 50-over format. Key players such as Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana have all been retained, adding depth and experience to the squad.

Nishan Madushka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kamindu Mendis, and Janith Liyanage provide further options in the batting order, while Dilshan Madushanka and Asitha Fernando strengthen the pace attack. Spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and young all-rounder Dunith Wellalage also make the cut.

Milan Rathnayake, who missed the second Test due to injury, has been named but his participation remains subject to fitness clearance.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, is expected to field a strengthened side with the return of some senior players for the ODI leg of the tour.

Following the ODI series, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will also contest a T20I series.
