Glenn Maxwell Hails Jasprit Bumrah as Potential “Best Fast Bowler of All Time”

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has showered praise on Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, predicting that the star bowler could be remembered as the “best fast bowler of all time.” Speaking on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Maxwell lauded Bumrahโ€™s unique action, exceptional skill set, and versatility, dubbing him the โ€œcomplete packageโ€ for his ability to consistently trouble batters across formats.

โ€œBumrah might not be judged solely by the number of wickets he takes but by the difficulty batters face when playing him. His action and skills are extraordinary, and he can rush you with pace or beat you on both edges,โ€ Maxwell said.

Bumrahโ€™s brilliance was on full display during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, where he led India as captain to a commanding 295-run victory over Australia. Picking up eight wickets, including a first-innings five-wicket haul, Bumrahโ€™s devastating spells ensured India took a 1-0 lead in the series.

His efforts earned him the Player of the Match award and elevated him to the top spot in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings.

In just 41 Tests, Bumrah has claimed 181 wickets at an exceptional average of 20.06, with best figures of 6/27 and 11 five-wicket hauls. His performances in Australia have been particularly dominant, taking 40 wickets at 18.80, including two five-wicket hauls.

Bumrah has also been a force in overseas conditions, with 134 wickets at 20.38, and holds the record for the most five-wicket hauls (seven) by an Indian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).

In 200 international matches, he has taken 419 wickets at an average of 20.80, including 13 five-wicket hauls.

His performances in ICC tournaments have been equally stellar. In 20 ODI World Cup games, he has taken 38 wickets, while his standout display in Indiaโ€™s victorious ICC T20 World Cup campaign earlier this yearโ€”where he picked up 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 with an economy rate of 4.17โ€”earned him the Player of the Tournament title.
