Haris Rauf named ICC player of the month after historic series win in Australia

  • by

Pakistan’s star pacer Haris Rauf has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November 2024, following his instrumental role in Pakistan’s first ODI series victory in Australia in 22 years. Rauf’s exceptional performances across formats made him stand out, despite strong competition from India’s Jasprit Bumrah and South Africa’s Marco Jansen.

Rauf was a force to be reckoned with in the three-match ODI series against Australia, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 10 scalps. His standout moment came in the second ODI in Adelaide, where Pakistan, trailing 1-0 in the series, relied on Rauf’s fiery spell of 5/29 to bowl out the hosts for just 163. The comprehensive 9-wicket victory, led by Saim Ayub’s blistering 82 and captain Babar Azam’s six to seal the match, set the stage for a historic series comeback.

In the decider, Rauf delivered yet again, claiming two key wickets as Pakistan secured a famous 2-1 series win. His outstanding performances earned him the Player of the Series award.

Rauf’s form extended beyond the Australia tour. In November, he also played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s 2-1 ODI series triumph in Zimbabwe, adding three more wickets to his tally. Additionally, the experienced 31-year-old shone in the T20Is against Australia, bagging five dismissals, including a four-wicket haul in Sydney.
