All-rounder Imad Wasim has officially retired from international cricket, announcing his decision on Friday while vowing to continue playing domestic and franchise cricket.
In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the 34-year-old cricketer expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Pakistan. “Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable,” he said.
Imad thanked his fans for their unwavering support throughout his career. “Your encouragement, through highs and lows, has pushed me to give my best for our beloved country,” he said. While stepping away from the international stage, Imad assured fans of his continued involvement in cricket through domestic leagues and franchise tournaments.
This is not the first time Imad has stepped away from international cricket. In November 2023, he announced his retirement only to reverse the decision months later. After discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials, Imad declared his availability for T20 cricket and went on to play in the ICC T20I World Cup 2024.
Imad’s international career began in May 2015 against Zimbabwe. Over the years, he played 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is, scoring 1,540 runs and taking 117 wickets. He was also a key member of Pakistanโs 2017 Champions Trophy-winning squad and represented the country in major tournaments, including the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 ODI World Cup, 2021 T20 World Cup, and 2024 T20 World Cup.
