The highly anticipated India-Australia white-ball series scheduled for October and November has sparked extraordinary ticket demand, with Cricket Australia confirming that public ticket allocations for two marquee fixturesโthe ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the T20I at Manuka Oval in Canberraโare already sold out, four months ahead of schedule.
Following the overwhelming success of the Ashes ticket sales, interest in the eight-match India-Australia series has been equally intense. In just two weeks of public sales, over 90,000 tickets have been snapped up, underlining the immense popularity of the upcoming series. The surge in demand has been notably driven by the Indian diaspora, which continues to play a vital role in energising Australiaโs summer cricket atmosphere.
Cricket Australia revealed that Indian fan clubs alone account for over 16% of total tickets sold so far. Leading the way is Bharat Army, which has secured more than 2,400 tickets. Fans India follows closely, purchasing over 1,400 tickets. Community-driven enthusiasm is also evident, with Amit Goyal from Brissy Baniyasโa community group based in Brisbaneโbuying 880 tickets for the Gabba T20I, making him the highest individual buyer for a single game. Meanwhile, the Indian Community of Gold Coast and Pakka Local have each purchased over 500 tickets for matches at the Gold Coast and the MCG, respectively.
Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager of Events & Operations at Cricket Australia, acknowledged the exceptional response. โExhausting our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months before the series is a testament to the tremendous interest for the upcoming season amongst cricket fans,โ he said in a media release.
Morrison also highlighted the growing impact of Indian supporters in shaping the cricketing atmosphere down under. โWe are thrilled to see continued strong engagement amongst the Indian diaspora off the back of a record-breaking Border-Gavaskar series last summer. The forecast strong turnout of Australian and Indian fans means weโll again have a fantastic atmosphere at each match.โ
With the MCG and Gabba T20Is also witnessing rapid ticket sales, Cricket Australia has urged fans to secure their seats early. โThere is extreme interest in what promises to be our biggest ever summer of cricket, so we encourage fans to buy early to avoid missing out on the action,โ Morrison added.
