Seattle Orcas all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching the Major League Cricket (MLC) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against the LA Knight Riders on June 22, 2025. As per the official MLC statement, Raza was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision. The charge was accepted by Raza without a formal hearing, following a report by the match officials.
The disciplinary action came in the wake of Seattle Orcasโ fourth consecutive loss in the 2025 MLC season, this time against a resurgent LA Knight Riders side in Dallas. Despite setting a competitive total of 177/6, the Orcas were undone by a commanding batting performance led by Unmukt Chand.
Batting first, Seattle made a promising start, with openers Shayan Jahangir and David Warner racing to 33 in just 3.3 overs. Jahangir was the first to fall, caught behind off Jason Holder for a brisk 26 off 15 balls. Warner and Aaron Jones then stitched a solid partnership, taking the score to 85 before Andre Russell dismissed Warner for 38 off 28.
Jones anchored the middle overs and accelerated in the latter half, finishing on 44 off 36. However, Seattle’s momentum dipped in the death overs. The middle order struggled, managing just 39 runs in the final four overs. Heinrich Klaasen and Kyle Mayers got starts but failed to convert, while Russell returned to deliver a clinical final over, conceding only two runs and removing Shimron Hetmyer.
In reply, the Knight Riders stumbled early, losing two wickets for just seven runs. But Unmukt Chand steadied the innings, guiding the team to 45/2 by the end of the powerplay. Chandโs calm approach eventually transitioned into aggression, particularly in the 11th over when he attacked Gerald Coetzee for 20 runs. He was ably supported by Saif Badar, who smashed 54 off 32 in a match-defining 139-run stand for the third wicket.
Despite late wickets, including the dismissal of Badar and a brief stay from Rovman Powell, Chand remained unbeaten on 86 off 58 deliveries, ensuring a smooth chase. Sherfane Rutherford provided the finishing touches as LA Knight Riders sealed victory with ten balls to spare, snapping their three-match losing streak and leaving the Orcas winless after four games.
