The highly anticipated draft for Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 is set to take place in Pakistan, with Karachi and Lahore emerging as the likely venues. The event marks the official kickoff of preparations for the milestone tenth edition of the countryโs premier cricket league. Scheduled for January 11, 2025, the official HBL PSL player draft’s exact location and time will be confirmed closer to the date.
Initially, there were discussions about holding the draft overseas, but officials ultimately decided it would be more appropriate to host the event domestically. Similarly, all matches for the upcoming season will be played in Pakistan, despite earlier proposals to stage some games abroad.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced the opening of the registration window for overseas players, enabling them to express availability for the upcoming season. This step marks a significant milestone as preparations for the event gain momentum.
The PCB also revealed that player category renewals will be announced on Tuesday, while the relegation process and player retention procedures are scheduled for later this month.
PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer expressed excitement over the leagueโs progress and the registration of international players. โWe are thrilled to announce the start of the registration process for overseas players. This marks the exciting beginning of preparations for the landmark 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League,โ he stated.
Highlighting the leagueโs growth since its inception in 2016, Naseer described the PSL as a โhome-grown brandโ that has become one of the premier cricket competitions globally. โWe, alongside franchise owners, commercial partners, and stakeholders, are proud of the successful journey of the HBL PSL. The quality and competitiveness of cricket played here is unmatched. Our loyal fans expect the best, and the 10th season promises even greater excitement.โ
Since its launch, Islamabad United holds the record as the most successful franchise with three titles. Lahore Qalandars have won twice, while Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans have each claimed the championship once.
