Shaheen Afridi has made history as the first Pakistani cricketer to claim 100 wickets in each format of international cricket. The 24-year-old pace bowler achieved the milestone during the first T20 International against South Africa on Tuesday, completing his 100th T20I wicket.
Afridi accomplished this feat in just 74 matches, making him the second-fastest Pakistani to reach 100 T20I wickets, following Haris Rauf, who achieved it in 71 games. His overall tally includes 112 wickets in ODIs and 116 in Test cricket.
Globally, Afridi joins an elite group of cricketers who have reached this milestone, becoming only the fourth player after New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, and Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga to achieve 100 wickets in each format.
In addition, Afridi is the third Pakistani to reach 100 T20I wickets, following Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan, further cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s finest bowlers.
