Women Cricket: Nadine de Klerk, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Sharmin Akhter nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month for November 2024, highlighting exceptional performances by South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk, England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge, and Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter.

South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk played a pivotal role in her team’s 3-0 T20I series victory over England. De Klerk impressed with her all-round performance, scoring 80 runs at an average of 80 and a strike rate of 135.59 while also topping the wicket charts with four dismissals. Her standout moments included an unbeaten 29 and 2/20 in the series opener, followed by 32* and 2/36 in the second match, ensuring South Africa’s dominance throughout the series.

England batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge was the top performer for her team during their 3-0 T20I series win in South Africa. Wyatt amassed 142 runs at an incredible average of 71 and a strike rate of 163.21. After a modest start in the first match, she exploded with a game-winning 78 in the second T20I and sealed the series with an unbeaten 53 in the final game, underlining her consistency and impact at the top of the order.

Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter anchored her team’s batting in their ODI series win against Ireland. The right-handed batter scored 139 runs in two matches at an average of 69.50 and a strike rate of 91.44. Sharmin’s 96 in the opening match narrowly missed being her maiden ODI century but led Bangladesh to a commanding 154-run victory. She followed it up with a steady 43 in the second ODI, helping Bangladesh secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
